What Should I Do If My Child Loses a Permanent Tooth?
If your child loses a permanent tooth, it may be able to be reattached if you act quickly enough. You’ll need to find the tooth first. When you find it, pick it up by the crown – not the root! You can rinse the tooth off in saliva.
If possible, place the tooth back in the same hole (root first) where the tooth came out. Have your child bite down gently to hold the tooth in place. You can also place the tooth in a container with your child’s saliva or have your child hold the tooth in their cheek.
